Jennifer’s Body - Official Trailer

Starring Megan Fox, Amanda Seyfried, Johnny Simmons, J.K. Simmons, Amy Sedaris, Adam Brody.

When Jennifer (Megan Fox) is possessed by a hungry demon, she goes from being high-school evil (gorgeous, stuck up and arrogant) to real-evil evil.

Meanwhile, Jennifers best friend, Needy (Amanda Seyfried), long relegated to living in Jennifers shadow, must step-up to protect the towns young men, including her nerdy boyfriend Chip (Johnny Simmons).

Writer/executive producer Diablo Cody (Juno) and director Karyn Kusana venture into darker territory, using horror laced with comedy to mine the precipitous terrain of adolescence.

Whether Cody’s flair for dialogue (or tendency for cliche, depending on your point of view) transfers well to the horror genre remains to be seen. There could be a new Buffy the Vampire Slayer / Whedon-style TV franchise in this.

Or we could see Another Trilogy in the offing. Maybe Jennifer turns demon-hunter after being successfully excorcised at the end of this one.

To be fair though, Cody could have written this while drunk, and the plot could be complete dross. I’d sit through far worse in a vehicle that seems to have been constructed around Megan Fox (she was one of the best things in Transformers 2).

A criticism often thrown at her is that she can’t act, but I’m still undecided as to whether this is a genuine lack of talent/confidence, or her media persona as near-mythcial beauty dwarfing any chance we have of seeing her as anyone but “Megan Fox”.

I’m sure there’s a strong case for a feminst critique on the above, but I have neither the academic credentials nor the physical ability to stop drooling.

Check out the “hot” bit at 0:55!
